About This Journal

The Journal of Soft Computing and Computer Applications (JSCCA) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality original research in the fields of artificial intelligence, soft computing, and their applications. The journal is published by the College of Computer Science, University of Technology-Iraq.

JSCCA follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Submissions are evaluated solely on the basis of scientific merit and their contribution to the field.

Journal History

JSCCA was established in August 2023 by the College of Computer Science (formerly the Department of Computer Science) at the University of Technology-Iraq. The journal was created to provide a dedicated platform for research in soft computing and computer applications, reflecting the College's long-standing expertise in these areas. Since its launch, the journal has been indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and has attracted submissions from researchers from different countries worldwide.

Publishing Schedule

The journal publishes two issues per year on a biannual basis. The first issue covers the period January to June and the second issue covers the period July to December. Articles accepted for publication are assigned to the next available issue; authors are notified of their scheduled publication date upon final acceptance.

Language

All manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatically correct, and formal academic English. Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscript reviewed by a native English speaker or a professional language editing service prior to submission. The journal does not offer language editing services; manuscripts with significant language deficiencies will be returned to authors before peer review.

Average Time from Submission to Publication

The average time from submission to first decision is 6 weeks. The average time from submission to final decision is 12 weeks. Accepted manuscripts are typeset and published online in the next published issue.

Advertisements

The journal does not accept advertisements from third parties. Editorial decisions are never influenced by commercial considerations.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

JSCCA is a fully open-access journal. Authors residing in Iraq are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 110,000 IQD upon acceptance of their manuscript. Authors from all other countries are granted a 100% APC waiver and are not required to pay any fees. The ability of an author to pay the APC does not influence editorial decisions; no manuscript is rejected or accepted on the basis of the author's capacity to pay.
